Redesigning the Website

Originally, the homepage and the event page were one in the same. This meant the homepage changed every year, limiting the consistency of the website’s look year to year and making the internal labeling system for different pages a little confusing to understand.

As Communications Director, I created separate pages for these purposes. That way the homepage could just have its details rewritten rather than be redesigned every year, and future web masters could still have full control over their event page for that year. This also improved the site’s navigability by keeping general information on the landing page while yearly event details were clearly linked to and housed on their own pages.

Other Pages I Designed

Co-Hosting the Event

I had the honor of co-hosting with Matt James, vice president for alumni relations at Marshall University.

Inspired by our theme “Connecting Threads,” I wore a piece traditional Filipino formalwear called a barong tagalog, the Filipino equivalent of a tuxedo which is woven from banana leaves.

Note: I delivered my own TEDx talk in 2025 after I left the TEDxMarshallU team!
